THE DAHLIA EXPERIENCE

Thank you so much for your interest in our 2023 Specialty Dahlia CSA!!

September is coming and the flower farm will be bursting with color, this is the height of dahlia season and we are SO excited to offer our blooms this season! We have 500+ dahlia plants growing in the field, all specialty, hard-to-find and very coveted varieties so you're sure to get a beautiful and very unique bouquet!

CSA members will pick up their shares at the Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard farm store every week starting September 7, on Thursdays or Fridays. You will get to bring home some sunshine in the form of a fresh bouquet of local, unique, ecologically-grown fall blooms!

**Please note, shares are very limited this year and will likely sell out quickly.

The Dahlia CSA includes one bouquet of fresh-cut dahlia flowers per week for 3 weeks.

Our 4-WEEK Dahlia CSA begins September 7, 2023 and ends September 28, 2023*

*If I can extend the season another week or two you will be informed via email with an option and instructions on how to do so!

We are offering Single Shares (1 bouquet) with a purchase limit of two shares per person. Each bouquet will include at least 10 stems of freshly cut dahlias, along with filler or greenery, wrapped in our recyclable paper flower sleeve. 

PICK-UP INFO

We offer two weekly pick-up days: Thursday & Friday from 9am-5pm.

Pick up will be at the Harvest Moon farm store located at 130 Hardscrabble Road in North Salem, NY.

Dahlia CSA shares are PICK-UP ONLY, we do not deliver or ship.

Given the busy nature of our business, and to keep communication and administration clear and manageable, we are unable to offer alternative pickup times. If for some reason you are unable to pick up your CSA share, you are welcome to send a friend or family member on your behalf to pick up your bouquet. We are unable to credit missed or forgotten bouquets.

When you purchase a CSA share, you are making a commitment to pick up during the time stated. If you are giving a CSA share as a gift, please make sure the recipient has read and agreed to our terms of service and is willing to pick them up on a weekly basis.

Share spots are limited. Participating in our CSA ensures that you, or the recipient of a gifted share, will have a fresh bouquet of locally grown blooms each week. ​If it seems like it will be difficult for you to meet the terms of the CSA, you can always find our blooms at the flower truck - click here for more information.

When is the first Summer Blooms CSA pick up week?

How long will my cut Dahlias last in the vase?

Dahlias are not known for their long Vaseline unfortunately. They typically only last about 4-7 days in the vase. I have listed tips at the bottom of the purchase page to help prolong your flowers' vaselife!

Can I get a share every other week, instead of weekly?

At this time we are only offering a weekly CSA bouquet share. However, you could split a share with a friend and alternate which weeks you pickup- decide among yourselves who will pickup each week. If you choose to do this, it needs to be managed by you.

Can I pick up my share a few minutes early, or late? 

No, I'm sorry! I am a busy mom, business owner and farmer, as such the times in the CSA Terms of Service are NOT flexible. If you feel like there is a chance that the timing wont work for you, you can always find our blooms at local market days with the truck.

What if I am out of town on my Bouquet pick up day?

If you are away, please arrange for a friend to pick up your bouquet, and let us know via email that someone else will be picking up for you.  

What if I forget to pick up my bouquet?

If you forget to pick up your bouquet, we cannot arrange an alternative time for you to pick it up. The two-day pick up window is the only time we can offer. Please try and remember to pick up your bouquet.

Can I purchase an extra bouquet when I pick up my share?

Sometimes we will have extra bouquets available at the Harvest Moon store, but this won’t always be the case.

Can I buy more than two Dahlia CSA shares?

At this time we are limiting two shares per person. We have a lot of interest in our CSA and want to be able to accommodate as many households as possible. That being said, you are welcome to buy additional shares for friends.

Can I give a Bouquet CSA as a gift?

Absolutely!! The Summer Blooms CSA makes a great gift! If gifting, please indicate that it is a gift and include the recipients name, email address and phone number. Also, if you would like me to email you a printable gift certificate for the recipient, I am happy to do so, just shoot me an email to let me know.

How can I keep my blooms long lasting?

Because they are so freshly cut (the morning of pick-up or the day before!) you're already ahead of the game! But here are more tips for the best possible vaselife:

• Keep flowers out of direct sunlight
• Keep flowers away from fruits and vegetables
• Change water daily to prevent bacteria from building up on stems
• Discard any dead blooms
• After 4-5 days, give flowers a fresh cut. You can move to a shorter vase to help extend the life of the flowers.
