Meet Elle

I'm Christine. A flower loving girl following a dream! It all started with a desire to be creative and run my own business, a passion that really took root during my early days of being a first time mom. I needed an outlet so I started writing about motherhood and gardening on my blog. I love sharing my gardening tips and showing the real and raw sides of motherhood. I connected with thousands of like-minded women all over the world and it has been a truly rewarding experience.

I am a gardener turned mom turned flower farmer, growing beautiful, fragrant, heirloom cut flowers just like my mother and grandmothers. Flowers can truly be so therapeutic. Ever since I was young I would help my mom in our herb and vegetable garden and pick flowers from my yard to make simple bouquets, they are my favorite memories.

Gardening is truly my therapy and growing flowers is my passion. I love being outside and caring for flowers and bringing that beauty to others is what inspires me. So in April 2020, I found the truck of my dreams and set out to grow and share my flowers with the world (well, first just the local community!).

My desire with Wild Iris Flower Truck is to bring you high quality, seasonal blooms in a way that is easy and inviting, so that you, too, can experience the magic of flower arranging in an accessible way. Flower Therapy, as I call it!

Let me share about how I started growing flowers.  In 2016 I was about five years in at managing my in law's farm/orchard/garden center operation and I read an article in Martha Stewart magazine about a farmer florist from WA, Floret Flower Farm.  She grew romantic flowers on her small scale farm, along with making unique, wild and nature-inspired arrangements. It resonated with me deeply. I soon learned that Erin (Floret Flowers) was offering limited spaces to attend an on-site farming and floral arranging week-long intensive workshop at her farm and I just knew I had to go. Not only did I learn so much invaluable and practical business knowledge at that workshop, I met some amazing fellow farmer-florists and I felt such a deep connection with this profession. I had to pursue it once I got home.

I felt confident on the growing end of things so that year I immersed myself in any and every floral arranging course including a few at the local NYBG. I learned everything I could about working with flowers and I started following seasoned flower farmers on social networks. 2018 came and I gave birth to my first child so things took a bit of a pause, focusing on being a mom and on building my blog.

One day I saw an Instagram post with a bouquet of fresh flowers and a sticker mentioning a flower truck. What! I googled it and immediately knew it was the answer I was looking for. I had no idea this was a way to sell flowers and it felt like finding a missing puzzle piece.

Enter Elle!  She is a beautifully cared for vintage 1961 Volkswagen Single Cab.  A very limited amount of these trucks were ever made and of those only several hundred still exist in the States. It was such a joyous event when my husband and I found her, she is truly a rare treasure. She is named for my three children and she came to us in April 2020 right around the time when I was due with our second child who sadly passed away before birth. There is so much meaning in this truck and this business for me, it is hard to put it into words.

I have always had a deep love for gardening and arranging flowers but it wasn't until 2019 and 2020 when it truly became a form of therapy for me, and I just want to share those benefits with others. We can all use a little flower therapy and small spots of joy. When you support my flower farm and flower truck business you are also supporting mothers who've experienced the trauma of losing a child because I donate 5% of sales each month to organizations that support loss moms and maternal mental health initiatives.
